This is the time of the year that we see potholes developing in asphalt pavement everywhere with the freeze/thaw cycles we experience in Ohio. These need patched to keep people from tripping or stepping in them causing personal injury or damage to our vehicles. Asphalt plants do not make hot mix asphalt during the cold months so the only mix available to use for patching is referred to as cold patch. It does not harden up as much as the hot mix, so it is only temporary or "emergency" patching. Typically this type of patch only lasts a few months & will need replaced with hot mix asphalt as soon as weather allows. The video shown is patching potholes at Buehlers in Orrville with cold patch.
